Young Eagles

EAA Young Eagles Program

EAA Chapter 1686 is excited to begin offering Young Eagles flights to help introduce young people to the world of aviation!

The EAA Young Eagles program gives youth ages 8-17 the opportunity to experience flight in a general aviation aircraft, free of charge. Flights are made possible by volunteer EAA pilots who donate their time, aircraft, and passion for aviation to inspire the next generation.

Whether your child dreams of becoming a pilot, loves airplanes, or is simply curious about what flying is like, a Young Eagles flight is a fun and memorable way to see aviation up close.

What to Expect

Young Eagles events are designed to be welcoming, educational, and beginner-friendly. Before the flight, participants will meet their pilot, learn a little about the airplane, and have a chance to ask questions. During the flight, they will get to see the local area from the air and experience what it is like to fly in a small aircraft.

After the flight, each participant becomes part of the Young Eagles program and receives information about additional aviation learning opportunities.

Who Can Participate?

Young Eagles flights are open to youth who are:

  • Ages 8-17

  • Interested in aviation or curious about flying

  • Accompanied by a parent or legal guardian on the day of the flight

No prior aviation experience is needed.

Interest Form

Our chapter is currently in the early stages of launching Young Eagles flights. For now, YE flights will be offered on an ad-hoc basis where participants and their families will be paired with pilots based on scheduling availability.
