Volunteering & Speaking Opportunities

Our chapter runs on the energy and passion of volunteers. Whether you’re interested in helping with our monthly speaker series, flying Young Eagles, hosting events, or leading a build group, there’s a place for you here.

Volunteering is a great way to meet fellow aviators, share knowledge, and make a difference in our aviation community!

Speakers

Our gatherings are on the 3rd Thursday of each month at the Oakland Aviation Museum. We encourage people from all backgrounds and experience levels to be speakers. Topics can be anything aviation-related - the sky is the limit! Previous topics include:

  • Air Racing

  • Mountain flying

  • Propeller making

  • Safety topics

  • Aircraft ownership

  • Aircraft building

  • Aerobatics

  • Military aviation-related topics

  • Flying stories

Speakers typically have a 20 to 40 minute presentation with a slideshow, photos/videos, and even props, however the presentation format is highly flexible.

If you would like to speak, please contact us.

Build Group Leadership

We’re looking for group of build group leaders! If you enjoy teaching, collaborating, organizing, or guiding others through projects, we’d love to have your help starting or leading a build group. Learn more about homebuilding here.

No experience necessary!

Ideally, we’d like to find a group of 2 or 3 leaders to collaborate together and split the workload. Lets have a chat - contact us!

Young Eagles

We are in the process of piloting Young Eagles flights. If you would like to be a volunteer pilot for our chapter or help organize and lead Young Eagles events, learn more about YE flights here and contact us.
